A well-established business in Reading has a new Head of Finance joining in the new year. Until then, the Managing Director needs an experienced Finance Manager who can come in straight away and keep the finance function running properly.

This isn t about keeping a seat warm. There s a small team to lead, a month end to run and ledgers to keep firmly in control. Then, once the new Head of Finance arrives, there s a proper handover before you finish at the end of February.

About the business

It s an established, multi-site services business with its head office in Reading and teams across the UK. Work is contract-based and there s plenty going on operationally, so the numbers are never dull.

What you ll be doing

• Overseeing a finance team of two to three, setting priorities and reviewing their work.
• Running month end and producing the monthly management accounts, with commentary for the MD.
• Handling accruals, prepayments, journals and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Keeping a close eye on cash and maintaining the cash flow forecast.
• Overseeing the purchase ledger and authorising payment runs.
• Overseeing invoicing, credit control and debt collection.
• Handing over a tidy, well-documented function to the incoming Head of Finance.

Who this will suit

• An experienced Finance Manager or Financial Controller, ideally qualified (ACA, ACCA or CIMA).
• Someone who has run a finance function in an SME and can hit the ground running.
• Strong on management accounts, AP and credit control.
• Sage experience is ideal.
• Available now and happy to commit through to the end of February.
• Within a comfortable daily commute of Reading.
