Team Manager

Luton Borough Council is seeking an experienced and dynamic Locum Team Manager to lead their Child Protection (CP) team. This leadership role involves managing a busy frontline team dedicated to safeguarding children at risk and ensuring statutory compliance with child protection procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide operational and strategic leadership to the Child Protection team

• Manage and supervise social workers carrying caseloads of children subject to CP plans

• Ensure timely, high-quality assessments, care planning, and intervention delivery

• Oversee compliance with child protection legislation, policies, and best practice standards

• Support staff through supervision, performance management, and professional development

• Liaise with partner agencies, courts, and other stakeholders to coordinate safeguarding work

Requirements:

• SWE registration

• Proven experience in a management role within child protection services

• Strong knowledge of safeguarding legislation, child protection procedures, and public law

• Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills
