Driver Hire is recruiting for an experienced and hardworking Yard Operative / Yardman to join a busy yard operation based in Bridgwater.

This is a physically demanding, hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys being active, working outdoors and keeping busy throughout the day.

The Role

Working as part of a busy yard team, your duties will include:

Loading and unloading vehicles safely and efficiently

Moving, lifting and organising goods and materials around the yard

Keeping the yard clean, tidy and organised

Preparing goods and materials for dispatch and collection

Assisting drivers with deliveries and collections

Sorting, stacking and securing stock and equipment

Carrying out general yard maintenance and housekeeping

Supporting the wider team with day-to-day yard operations

Following all site health and safety procedures

Please note: This is a physically demanding role involving regular manual handling, heavy lifting and working outdoors in all weather conditions. Applicants must be comfortable with the physical nature of the work.

Pay & Working Hours

£13.00 per hour standard rate

£15.50 per hour overtime rate

Monday to Friday working

Start times from 7:30am

Weekly pay every Friday

Opportunity to progress into other roles

Requirements

To be considered, applicants must:

Have at least 1 year’s previous experience in a similar yard, warehouse or physically demanding outdoor role

Be over 21 years old due to insurance requirements

Be physically fit and comfortable with regular manual handling

Be willing to work outdoors in all weather conditions

Have reliable transport or be able to commute to Bridgwater for early starts

Be able to provide a full work history and suitable employment references

Have a reliable, hardworking attitude and a good understanding of workplace safety

A full UK driving licence would be an advantage, as there may be opportunities to progress into driving or other roles within the business.
