Year 5 Teaching Assistant – Interventions

Desian Education are proud to be working in collaboration with a Widnes-based mainstream primary school that is easily accessible via public transport. This large two-form entry school require an engaging and experience teaching assistant to support across their year 5 classes on a full-time basis from September, initially until the February half-term with a view to extend until the end of the academic year.

Your new role:

You will be joining the KS2 cohort on a full-time temporary basis, based in year 5 and working in collaboration with the class teachers to promote the engagement and learning of all pupils. This school has a number of pupils that come from deprived areas and struggle with their emotional regulation. To support their emotional development you will lead on 1:1 behavioural interventions and implementation of 1:1 behavioural strategies, best suit to pupils individual responses and emotional needs. You will also lead on interventions in all core subjects, liaising with teachers on individual and small group learning needs prior to sessions as to ensure positive learning outcomes.

What you need to succeed:

• Full “Right to Work” in the UK
• An NVQ Level 3 Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent qualification is advantageous but not essential
• Expert knowledge of the KS2 national curriculum
• Be able to commit to a long-term full-time contract
• Relevant referenceable classroom experience (experience with deprivation and/or behavioural needs is highly advantageous)
