SEN Teaching Assistant – Reception

Desian Education are proud to be supporting a single-form entry primary school in Winsford with their September recruitment. This highly inclusive mainstream school are looking to appoint a reliable and motivated teaching assistant for a full-time temporary contract from September for the full academic year.

This is a full-time contract where you will support a pupil in the reception class on a 1:1 basis as they have a dual diagnosis of ASC and selective mutism. You will play a pivotal role in their inclusion and be their main point of contact throughout the school day, meeting them at the gate, walking them back to their grown up’s at the end of the day and liaising with them on the pupils progress, milestones and further requirements.

Your new role:

·       Use of Makaton, PECs and other visual references to support communication

·       1:1 positive behaviour supporting including sensory play, positive reinforcement, now & next and movement breaks

·       Supporting during break and lunch times

·       Reporting to the SENCO on pupil progress and direct liaison with the pupils guardians

·       Integrating into new pupil groups

What you need to succeed:

·       Full “Right to Work” in the UK

·       Relevant referenceable experience supporting children and young people with SEN in a classroom or residential environment

·       Be able to commit to a long-term full-time position consisting of 32.5 hours per week

·       An NVQ Level 2 Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent qualification is advantageous but not essential

·       An Enhanced Children’s DBS certificate or willingness to obtain
