Level 2 1:1 Teaching Assistant – Year 5

Desian Education are proud to be supporting an extremely inclusive and collaborative mainstream primary school in Warrington that is easily accessible via public transport. This fantastic school require a motivated and reliable teaching assistant to join the KS2 cohort on a full-time temporary basis to support a pupil in year 5 with a dual diagnosis of ASD and non-verbal on a 1:1 basis.

This extremely rewarding opportunity commences on 02/09/2026 and will last the full academic year.

Your new role:

As a teaching assistant in this school you will play an integral role in the education and development of a pupil in the year 5 class with a dual diagnosis of ASD and non-verbal. You will be their main point of contact throughout the day, meeting them at the school gate, walking them back to their parents/guardians at the end of the day and liaising with the parents/guardians on their progress and key milestones. You will directly liaise with the SENCO and follow all points of the EHCP with core requirements that include:

·       Positive behaviour support; sensory breaks, pressure therapy and more

·       Communication; use of Makaton, PECs and other objective references

·       Aid in assisted toileting/personal care

What you need to succeed:

·       Full “Right to Work” in the UK

·       Relevant referenceable experience supporting young people with complex needs in a classroom or residential setting

·       A passion for supporting disadvantaged children

·       Experience using Makaton and PECs is essential

·       An Enhanced Children’s DBS certificate or willingness to obtain

·       An NVQ Level 2 Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent qualification
