Pratap Executive has been exclusively retained to appoint a Chief Financial Officer for an established business operating within a specialist, project/contract environment.

This is a key senior leadership appointment at an important stage in the development of the business, with a focus on strengthening financial performance, improving operational visibility and supporting future growth.

We are looking for an experienced, commercially minded and hands-on CFO who can operate confidently at Board level while remaining close to the financial and operational detail.

The Role

Working alongside the senior leadership team and key stakeholders, the CFO will take responsibility for:

• Daily cash management – maintaining close control of cash flow, liquidity, working capital and short-term forecasting.

• Contract and project accounting – overseeing multiple live contracts, WIP, cost-to-complete, project profitability and commercial controls.

• Board and stakeholder engagement – providing clear financial insight, constructive challenge and confidence to senior stakeholders.

• Commercial and operational performance – improving financial visibility, forecasting accuracy, margins and decision-making.

• Financial leadership – developing the finance function, strengthening processes and supporting business improvement.

We are keen to speak with established CFOs or experienced Finance Directors who can demonstrate:

• Experience within a project-based, contracting, engineering,  or similar operational environment.

• Strong, hands-on daily cash management experience – essential.

• Detailed contract and project accounting experience – essential.

• Significant Board-level experience and the credibility to engage with senior stakeholders – essential.

• Experience of working in a complex business environment where financial discipline and commercial judgement are critical.

• A practical, resilient and collaborative leadership style.

This opportunity will suit someone who enjoys being close to the business, is comfortable operating at pace and can balance strategic leadership with hands-on financial management.
