Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging classroom, workshop and practical training to fire and security apprentices.

  • Teach technical knowledge and practical skills relating to fire alarm systems, intruder alarms, CCTV, access control and associated security technologies.

  • Support apprentices in developing the skills and knowledge required to meet the relevant apprenticeship standards.

  • Plan and prepare lesson materials, training activities, practical demonstrations and assessments.

  • Monitor apprentice progress, provide constructive feedback and implement individual learning support where required.

  • Support apprentices with portfolio development, evidence gathering and preparation for end-point assessment (EPA).

  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, progress, assessment outcomes and learner reviews.

  • Work collaboratively with employers, assessors and the wider training team to ensure apprentices receive effective support.

  • Ensure all training activities comply with relevant health and safety requirements, industry standards and awarding organisation requirements.

  • Keep up to date with developments in fire safety, electronic security technologies and industry best practice.

Essential Requirements

  • Relevant industry experience in the fire and security sector.

  • Strong technical knowledge of fire alarm systems and electronic security systems.

  • Experience installing, maintaining, commissioning or fault-finding fire and security equipment.

  • Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly to learners with different levels of experience.

  • Good organisational skills and the ability to manage learner progress and documentation.

  • A commitment to safeguarding, equality, diversity and inclusion.

Desirable Requirements

  • Previous experience delivering training, coaching or assessing apprentices.

  • A recognised teaching or training qualification, such as a Level 3 Award in Education and Training or equivalent.

  • An assessor qualification, such as a relevant Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement.

  • Knowledge of the relevant Fire, Emergency and Security Systems apprenticeship standards and end-point assessment requirements.

  • Relevant industry qualifications or certifications in fire detection, fire alarms, CCTV, intruder alarms or access control.

  • Experience working with apprenticeship providers, awarding organisations or further education colleges.

Candidates with strong industry experience who are willing to work towards the relevant teaching and assessment qualifications may also be considered.

What We Offer

  • Competitive salary, dependent on experience and qualifications.

  • Opportunity to develop and progress within the training and education sector.

  • Support with relevant teaching and assessment qualifications, where applicable.

  • The opportunity to make a real difference in the development of future fire and security professionals.

  • A supportive working environment with opportunities for continued professional development.
