About the role
London | Hybrid | Competitive salary + bonus + benefits
We're working with a leading global insurance business on a unique Underwriting Risk opportunity within a high-profile team supporting strategic underwriting decisions across the business.
This is not a typical risk role. It's broad, fast-paced and constantly evolving, with the opportunity to work across catastrophe risk, emerging risks, global events, volatility and longer-term strategic risks.
You'll have regular exposure to senior stakeholders and work closely with underwriting, exposure management, actuarial, reinsurance and enterprise risk teams to turn complex analysis into meaningful insight.
What you'll be doing:
Analyse portfolio trends, volatility, accumulation and emerging risks.
Develop scenarios, stress tests and risk assessments.
Support live event response and assess the impact of major global events.
Prepare reporting and insight for senior management and governance forums.
Work across a broad range of insurance classes and strategic underwriting decisions.
Help identify how political, economic, social and technological developments could impact the portfolio.
What we're looking for:
We're open to a range of backgrounds, including catastrophe modelling, exposure management, underwriting risk, risk management or intelligence.
You'll need:
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
A good understanding of insurance/reinsurance.
An interest in global events and an ability to understand how changes in the wider world can impact insurance.
Experience working with complex data and reporting/BI tools.
Knowledge of catastrophe modelling, exposure management or broader underwriting risk.
The ability to work independently and manage changing priorities.
Strong communication and stakeholder skills.
A genuine curiosity about risk and what it means for the wider business.
Why this opportunity?:
You'll have the autonomy to get involved in the areas that interest you most and shape the role as it evolves.
It could be a great opportunity to broaden your experience beyond traditional cat/exposure modelling and move into the wider strategic side of risk, while gaining exposure to some of the most senior decision-makers in the business.
If you're looking for something different, with plenty of variety, autonomy and scope to make the role your own, we'd love to hear from you.
