We are currently seeking a Consultant Cardiologist to support a service within the North West region.

This opportunity offers a long-term locum contract from 26th October 2026 to 1st February 2027, providing structured and consistent work within a well-established cardiology department. The role is ideal for experienced Consultant Cardiologists looking to work within a supportive multidisciplinary environment while contributing to high-quality patient care.

Role Overview

The indicative job plan may include:

Ward/ACCU Weeks (approximately 6 per year)

• ACCU and ward rounds including PTWR
• Ward reviews and board rounds
• Participation in ACCU/post-take ward rounds as part of the on-call rota

Off-Ward Weeks

• Outpatient clinics including General Cardiology, Heart Failure, Arrhythmia and Imaging
• Subspecialty sessions such as Cath Lab, Pacing Lists, Imaging or Device Clinics
• Advice & Guidance (A&G), RAS triage and MDT meetings
• Supporting Professional Activities including teaching, supervision, CPD, audit, quality improvement and governance
• Administrative duties and on-call session-in-lieu

Requirements

Essential

• Full GMC registration with a licence to practise
• GMC Specialist Register in Cardiology (or within 6 months of CCT at interview)
• MRCP (UK) or equivalent postgraduate qualification

Desirable

• MD or PhD
• Additional fellowship within a cardiology subspecialty
• BSE, EHRA accreditation or equivalent

What We're Looking For

• Recent NHS Cardiology experience at Consultant level
• Strong clinical and diagnostic skills
• Excellent communication and leadership abilities
• Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams
• Valid Right to Work in the UK (please note we do not offer visa sponsorship)
