Team Manager - Assessments

About the RolePeterborough City Council is seeking an experienced and motivated Team Manager to lead a busy frontline Assessment Team. This is an excellent opportunity for a strong leader with a proven track record in Children's Social Care, safeguarding, and performance management to oversee a dynamic service delivering timely, high-quality interventions for children and families.Location: Sand Martin House, Bittern Way, PE2 8TYRate: £45 per hour (Umbrella rate)Hours: 37 hours per weekContract: TemporaryOffice Requirements: Minimum of 2 days per week in the office, 5 days during duty weeksKey ResponsibilitiesManage and support a frontline Assessment Team, ensuring high standards of practice and effective service delivery.Oversee all work relating to the timeliness and quality of Children & Families assessments completed within the service.Provide management oversight of Section 7 work relating to private law proceedings.Lead and oversee Section 47 enquiries, safeguarding investigations, and multi-agency strategy meetings.Manage and coordinate a 3-week duty system, ensuring effective allocation and management of incoming referrals and safeguarding concerns.Drive performance, quality assurance, and positive outcomes for children and families.About YouExtensive experience within Children's Social Care, ideally within Assessment or Front Door Services.Previous Team Manager or Assistant Team Manager experience.Strong knowledge of safeguarding legislation, child protection processes, and statutory social work requirements.Experience overseeing Section 47 investigations and Section 7 reports.Excellent leadership, performance management, and decision-making skills.Social Work England registration.If you're an experienced Children's Services Team Manager looking for your next challenge, we'd love to hear from you.This role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975.
