About the role

About the Role
Peterborough Borough Council are looking for an experienced Social Worker to join their team to triage new referrals into MASH. A successful candidate will have a sound knowledge of threshold application, making timely decisions for children and being able to remain calm under pressure. You will have the ability to work independently and as part of a team and will report to the Team Managers within MASH. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Social Worker to join a stable team who has children at the heart of all decision making.

The Multi Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH) is based at Sand Martin House and co-located with Police, Health, Education, Housing, Independent Domestic Violence Advocates, Early Help Hub and the Assessment Service. The MASH triages new referrals for children and makes a decision as to whether intervention and support is required for children and families. The team includes a Service Manager, Team Managers, Senior Practitioners, Social Workers and Children's Advice and Information Officers.

We are seeking a motivated and confident Social Worker to join our established Multi Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH) team. This is an exciting opportunity to work alongside a wide range of partner agencies, helping ensure children receive the right support and intervention at the right time.

Location: Sand Martin House, Bittern Way, PE2 8TY
Rate: £39.00 per hour
Contract: Temporary
Hours: 37 hours per week
Office Requirements: Office-based 3 days per week

  • Apply safeguarding thresholds confidently and consistently.
  • Make timely decisions regarding intervention, support, and safeguarding actions.
  • Undertake robust risk assessments and formulate recommendations.
  • Work closely with partner agencies to ensure effective multi-agency safeguarding arrangements.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date case records.
  • Contribute to a child-centred service that promotes positive outcomes and protects children from harm.
  • Support the delivery of high-quality safeguarding practice within statutory timescales.

About You

  • Qualified Social Worker with current Social Work England registration.
  • Experience within Children's Social Care, particularly safeguarding and assessment services.
  • Strong understanding of threshold application and statutory safeguarding responsibilities.
  • Ability to make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience of risk assessment and information analysis.
  • Excellent communication and partnership-working skills.
