This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced bookkeeper or practice accountant ready to take the next step in their career. You'll combine hands-on bookkeeping expertise with team leadership, client relationship management and the opportunity to help shape a growing function.
You'll manage a varied client portfolio while overseeing a team of five based in Lagos, ensuring work is completed accurately, efficiently and within deadlines.
Key Responsibilities
You'll have strong bookkeeping experience, ideally within an accountancy practice, and be confident managing client relationships, competing priorities and deadlines.
We're looking for someone who is proactive, highly organised and detail-oriented, with excellent communication skills and the confidence to lead a team.
Experience with Sage 50, VT and QuickBooks would be advantageous.

Farrer Barnes is working with a well-established and highly regarded accountancy practice in Dartford to recruit an experienced Bookkeeping Manager to join its growing team.This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced bookkeeper or practice accountant ready to take the next step in their career. You'll combine hands-on bookkeeping expertise with team leadership, client relationship management and the opportunity to help shape a growing function.
You'll manage a varied client portfolio while overseeing a team of five based in Lagos, ensuring work is completed accurately, efficiently and within deadlines.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a team of five, allocating workloads, reviewing work and monitoring deadlines.
- Provide guidance, support and training to develop team performance.
- Manage a diverse client portfolio and build strong, long-term relationships.
- Process invoices, balance accounts and maintain accurate financial records.
- Complete bank reconciliations, VAT returns and EC Sales Lists where required.
- Monitor aged debtors and creditors and ensure timely supplier payments.
- Resolve bookkeeping, VAT and general accounting queries, including incomplete records.
- Maintain high standards of accuracy, compliance and client service.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes and support the growth of the bookkeeping function.
