This is a hybrid position, offering flexibility between home and office working, with two days per week based in the London office.

The Role

As a Lead React Native Developer, you will play a key role in shaping technical strategy and defining architecture at squad level. You will provide technical leadership across projects, ensuring quality, security, and compliance standards are consistently achieved while creating an inclusive and collaborative environment where engineers can perform at their best.

The position requires extensive React Native expertise, strong technical leadership capabilities, and the ability to solve complex engineering challenges while working closely with multidisciplinary teams and client stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership & Delivery

• Define and maintain squad-level technical architecture and development strategy.
• Take ownership of technical delivery outcomes across projects.
• Ensure solutions meet high standards for security, including OWASP best practices, and comply with data protection requirements such as GDPR.
• Drive engineering excellence across all stages of project delivery.

Innovation & Product Development

• Apply advanced React Native expertise to create intelligent digital products and services.
• Contribute to the development of new technical offerings and support Waracle’s Go-To-Market strategy.
• Identify opportunities to enhance technical capabilities and innovation across projects.

Team Leadership & Mentoring

• Lead project teams and development squads, ensuring successful delivery outcomes.
• Foster a psychologically safe and collaborative environment where specialists can thrive.
• Support the growth and development of engineering talent through mentoring and knowledge sharing.

Client & Stakeholder Engagement

• Facilitate workshops and discovery sessions with clients and stakeholders.
• Translate strategic business objectives into clear technical requirements and actionable development tasks.
• Manage stakeholder expectations through effective communication and delivery planning.

Skills & Experience Required

The successful candidate will combine strong technical expertise with strategic thinking and leadership experience.

Essential Requirements

• Strong commercial experience with React Native.
• Proven track record leading engineering teams and delivering large-scale, business-critical IT transformation projects.
• Experience defining technical architectures, selecting appropriate frameworks, and managing technical risk.
• Ability to engage effectively with stakeholders and convert business requirements into technical solutions.
• Demonstrated commitment to coaching, mentoring, and developing engineering professionals.

Desirable Skills

The following experience would be beneficial but is not essential:

• Flutter development.
• Native iOS or Android development.
• ReactJS frontend development.
