Applications Lead job in Crawley – Atlassian & Jira Cloud – DOE

Elekta is seeking to fill an Applications Lead job in Crawley to take ownership of the Atlassian ecosystem supporting R&D programmes. Working as part of the Process & Tools Team within the Engineering Tools Stream, you will oversee the lifecycle management, optimisation, and support of Atlassian applications, with a particular focus on Jira Cloud.

Collaborating closely with the Continuous Improvement and Engineering Intelligence streams, you will engage with teams across Research & Development to drive successful implementation, ongoing maintenance, and enhancement of Jira Cloud and related applications.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the design, deployment, operational support, and performance of Atlassian software solutions, with a primary focus on Jira Cloud.
• Lead the evaluation, configuration, and rollout of new enhancements, integrations, and applications based on feedback from SMEs, user groups, business functions, development teams, and other Process & Tools streams.
• Support the introduction and adoption of internal software applications across business areas.
• Work closely with functions such as PMO and IT Services to align support processes, including access requests and incident management, while identifying opportunities for process optimisation and shift-left improvements.
• Coordinate and collaborate with external suppliers and vendors.
• Maintain governance documentation covering the software development lifecycle for supported solutions.
• Develop and manage access models, roles, and permissions.
• Maintain licensing records and application maintenance documentation.
• Support and initiate application assessments covering areas such as architecture, security, infrastructure, procurement, data privacy, and system validation.

Skills and Experience

Applicants should possess:

• A degree in Information Technology or a related discipline, or equivalent experience demonstrating expertise in these areas.
• Strong knowledge of Atlassian products, particularly the administration, support, and management of Jira Cloud within medium to large environments.
• Experience working within Agile and Lean frameworks and an appreciation of their associated culture and practices.
• An understanding of how to balance team autonomy with governance requirements when implementing tools such as Jira.
• Experience managing and working with external vendors.
• Previous responsibility for IT operational budgets and investment planning would be advantageous.
