Lead Systems Engineer

Hexwired Recruitment is partnering with a global defence organisation with a major presence in Portsmouth and Stevenage. As part of continued growth, the company is looking to fill a Lead Systems Engineer job in Portsmouth or Stevenage in its highly regarded multidisciplinary R&D team.

This opportunity centres on the development of advanced military satellite communications systems and offers the chance to work on cutting-edge technologies within a world-class engineering environment. Due to the nature of the projects involved, applicants must be eligible to obtain UK Security Clearance.

As a Lead Systems Engineer, you will play a key role in the development and delivery of next-generation satellite communication solutions. Working alongside multidisciplinary teams, you will support the systems engineering lifecycle, ensuring requirements are captured, managed, and translated into robust subsystem designs.

This position would suit an experienced engineer with a strong background in Model-Based Systems Engineering and knowledge of satellite platforms.

• Must be eligible for UK SC Security Clearance. Please note that candidates who do not meet the UK clearance requirements, including foreign nationals, cannot be considered.
• Strong experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and associated tools such as Enterprise Architect (EA).
• Previous experience working with, or a solid understanding of, satellite platforms and satellite communications systems.
• Proven ability to capture and define requirements, translating stakeholder needs into subsystem specifications.
• Experience working across the systems engineering lifecycle within complex engineering environments.

The company is offering a salary in the region of £60,000 to £70,000, depending on experience, together with an excellent benefits package.
