DevOps & Cloud Engineer job in Newcastle – DOE
Fenwick is looking for a technically skilled DevOps & Cloud Engineer to join its IT team and help drive the stability, scalability, and continuous improvement of its cloud platforms and integrations. Based primarily at the flagship Newcastle store, this hybrid role offers the opportunity to work with modern cloud technologies while supporting critical services across the business.
Reporting to the DevOps & Infrastructure Manager, you will play a key role in developing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, automating processes, and ensuring the reliability and security of cloud services. Working with Microsoft Azure and MuleSoft technologies, you will collaborate with teams across Business Applications, Security, Service Desk, and Retail Operations, as well as external partners, to support technical delivery and platform performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the development, maintenance, and continuous improvement of cloud platforms and integrations.
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines and automation processes.
- Develop and support integrations between internal and third-party systems using APIs, webhooks, and middleware technologies.
- Improve monitoring, alerting, and operational visibility using tools such as Azure DevOps, Datadog, Zabbix, Power Platform, and PagerDuty.
- Troubleshoot platform issues and provide support across multiple business areas.
- Contribute to infrastructure improvements and secure engineering practices.
- Help maintain highly available, scalable, and resilient services.
- Participate in an out-of-hours major incident support rota.
Requirements
- Experience working in a DevOps, infrastructure, or cloud engineering environment.
- Strong understanding of CI/CD, automation, monitoring, and operational support.
- Experience with Microsoft Azure services, including Azure DevOps, Logic Apps, and Function Apps.
- Experience supporting integrations using MuleSoft, APIs, or middleware technologies.
- Understanding of monitoring, logging, and alerting practices.
- Familiarity with infrastructure and automation tooling.
- Knowledge of secure engineering and operational best practices.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
- Good understanding of infrastructure, networking, and integrations.
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Proactive approach to ownership, continuous improvement, and collaboration.
- Microsoft and/or MuleSoft certifications are desirable.
