About the role

Embedded Linux Engineer Winchester – £60K – £75K

Hexwired Recruitment has partnered exclusively with a rapidly growing R&D company based in Winchester that is developing a brand-new hardware platform from the ground up. Due to increasing customer demand, they are looking for an experienced Embedded Linux Engineer to join their team and support the development of high-performance, distributed systems.

This role offers a blend of commercial product development and cutting-edge R&D, making it an excellent opportunity for engineers looking to broaden their experience and work with the latest technologies. The company operates within highly regulated sectors and is seeking candidates with experience developing robust and secure embedded systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop embedded software for next-generation hardware platforms.
  • Work with distributed systems and high-performance processors, including Nvidia Jetson platforms.
  • Develop and maintain Board Support Packages (BSPs).
  • Implement and support communication interfaces including Ethernet and CANbus.
  • Perform testing, validation, and documentation of embedded systems.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams across both R&D and commercial projects.
  • Ensure security considerations are embedded throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Contribute to the development of innovative products used by long-standing industry customers.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of commercial embedded software development experience.
  • Strong experience working with ARM STM32 processors and microcontrollers.
  • Good understanding of serial communication protocols, including Ethernet and CANbus.
  • Experience developing and maintaining BSPs.
  • Proven experience testing and documenting embedded systems.
  • Familiarity with building secure embedded platforms.
  • Experience with Ubuntu is desirable.
  • Experience working with Nvidia Jetson or similar high-performance processors is advantageous.
  • Previous experience within regulated or constrained environments such as defence, medical, or aerospace is beneficial.
