About the role

What’s Yonder?

“It's as if Time Out, Amex and Monzo had a baby” - Will T, Yonder Member

We’re building the financial membership of the future. One that works for how you live now. Not how your parents banked in the ‘90s.

Yonder combines credit or debit in one membership, designed to be fair, flexible, and actually enjoyable to use. No confusing terms. No dusty points system. Just rewards that actually feel rewarding - from bao to beer to a boarding pass.

Sounds cool. What’s my part in this?

Over the last year we've added a debit card, a free membership tier, hundreds of new independent partners around the country, countless product improvements and our personal favourite, Yonder Flights, a new way to use Yonder points on any flight with any airline globally. We've maintained a 4.5 TrustPilot rating and our customers really love us (and we love them back... hi!).

Over the last 24 months, we’ve grown from just an idea to a beautiful, fully regulated financial product that our members absolutely love.

Why design matters at Yonder

Design isn’t just making something look good. It’s how a new member decides they can trust us with their money. It’s how we take something as complex as a credit account and make it simple, clear and fun. It’s how we turn rewards into something you actually look forward to using, rather than just a bunch of useless points you never touch.

That’s why design sits right at the centre here. You’ll work on some of the most important problems we have, alongside people who’ll help you crack them. The expectation is that you care deeply about the quality and detail of your work, as much as the larger ambition driving everything we do.

About the role

You’ll join a small team where design carries real weight, as the designer in a lean squad with a senior product manager and two engineers. Your PM sets the direction for the squad, and you’ll own the design that brings it to life, taking work from early concepts to something in members’ hands. You won’t be doing it alone. Our designers work closely across squads, with product and design crits every week, and you’ll have a lot of support from Craig, our VP of Design, and our senior designers as you grow into the role.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Turning complex problems into simple experiences. Working closely with your PM, you’ll take complex problems and design the flows and prototypes that make them feel simple and effortless for members.

  • Crafting experiences people love using. Yonder feels different from other finance apps because of how much we obsess over the craft. You'll design beautiful, enjoyable products that feel premium and worth coming back to. This is where we expect you to shine.

  • Running research. Designers here don’t sit at arm’s length from members. You’ll run research alongside your PM, testing concepts and running usability sessions, and build up to leading your own research projects. If this is newer to you, we’ll help you get there.

  • Working shoulder to shoulder with your squad. You'll work in the open with your PM and engineers from the first sketch, solving problems together so the final product feels like it was built by one team.

  • Balancing speed with polish. Some weeks you’ll put scrappy ideas in front of members just to learn. Other times you'll slow right down to get the details right. Knowing which a problem needs takes judgement, and we’ll help you build it.

  • Contributing to our design system. You’ll add to it and refine it, so it helps the whole team move fast without losing consistency or quality.

You're a great fit if...

  • Your craft is the strongest thing about your work. Typography, layout, colour, spacing, hierarchy, motion. Visual execution is where you stand out, and you can’t leave the details alone until they’re right.

  • You have a few years of experience, including some in product. You’ve been designing for a few years, and for at least the last couple you’ve been working on digital products and shipping work people use. You might have started out in brand or marketing design and moved across, and now you want an in-house product role where you can learn how great products get made.

  • You care about how things feel on a phone. Yonder lives on a smartphone. Ideally you’ve shipped native mobile experiences, but if not, you’ve designed digital interfaces and you’re keen to treat mobile as its own craft.

  • You want to be involved end to end. You might have a specialism, but you want to be part of every stage, from talking to members and shaping ideas to sweating the final details. We don’t have researchers, content designers or copywriters, so you’ll get to grow across all of it, with support.

  • You want feedback. You ask for it, take it well and act on it. You’ll get a lot of it here, and the people who grow fastest are the ones who go looking for it.

  • You communicate openly and often. You share early, bring people into your process and see engineers and PMs as creative partners.

  • You care about impact, not output. You believe shipping a feature doesn’t count unless it helps members, and you want to know whether what you shipped made a difference.

  • You work like it’s 2026. You experiment with new tools and ways of working. We use AI a lot, and we want someone curious enough to find the edges of what it can do for design.

This role isn't for you if...

We think it’s just as important to be clear about who the role isn't a good fit for, so nobody ends up frustrated.

  • You want to be told exactly what to do. You’ll get a lot of support and feedback here, but you’ll still own your work and make the calls on it. We’re here to help you get it right, not to hand you a spec.

  • You prefer working solo with your headphones on. Design at Yonder is collaborative by nature. You’ll constantly be talking with members, bouncing ideas around with PM’s or engineers, and shaping solutions with your squad. If you’re not energised by that, you’ll find it tough here.

  • You want a fully remote role. We’re office-first. You’ll be in our Shoreditch office at least three days a week, because that’s where the best collaboration happens. Beyond that, we’re flexible.

  • You want months to polish one project. We move quickly. Sometimes you’ll need to be scrappy and ship fast to learn. If you need every project to be perfect before it sees daylight, this won’t be the right fit.
