LEAD CREDIT RISK ANALYST

CARDIFF (HYBRID) | £60,000 – £70,000 + BONUS

This is an exciting opportunity for a Lead Credit Risk Analyst to join a growing lending business and take ownership of credit strategy across a retail lending portfolio. You’ll have the chance to influence key lending decisions, optimise portfolio performance, and work closely with senior stakeholders to shape the future direction of the credit function.

THE ROLE

* Lead the development and optimisation of credit policy across the portfolio

* Own lending criteria and decisioning strategies to balance growth, automation, and risk appetite

* Enhance referral and application funnel strategies to improve efficiencies and customer outcomes

* Monitor portfolio performance across approvals, arrears, defaults, recoveries, and profitability

* Conduct detailed portfolio analysis to identify emerging risks and commercial opportunities

* Use SQL and Python to analyse data and develop actionable credit risk insights

* Produce high-quality management information, reporting, and strategic recommendations for senior stakeholders

* Support the implementation of new products, data sources, and decisioning capabilities

YOUR SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

* Strong commercial experience within credit risk, credit strategy, or risk analytics

* Experience developing or optimising credit policy within a regulated consumer lending environment

* Strong understanding of underwriting strategies, portfolio monitoring, and credit risk controls

* Hands-on experience using SQL, Python desirable

* Ability to translate complex analytical findings into clear commercial recommendations

* Experience presenting insights and recommendations to senior stakeholders

* Exposure to decisioning systems, automation initiatives, or strategy implementation projects would be beneficial
