About the role

Teaching Assistant Opportunity - Specialist Secondary School (Reigate Area)

Are you a dedicated and compassionate individual looking to make a significant difference in the lives of young people?

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Teaching Assistant to join the team at a specialist secondary school provision (ages 11-16) located in the Redhill/Surrey area. We provide a tailored, calm, and nurturing environment for students to thrive.

About the School

Our school is a specialist setting committed to supporting young people aged 11-16 who have Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and associated difficulties in social communication, sensory processing, and emotional regulation.

We operate a successful model built on small class sizes and high levels of in-class support, alongside a dedicated multi-disciplinary intervention team. Our mission is to empower students, helping them to develop the essential skills needed to overcome barriers, build meaningful relationships, and achieve their individual aspirations for further education, training, or employment.

The Role

As a Teaching Assistant, you will be instrumental in delivering our student-focused approach.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Providing direct support to students in the classroom, helping them access the curriculum and manage learning tasks.

  • Assisting teachers in implementing individualised education plans and sensory strategies.

  • Supporting students to develop their social communication and emotional regulation skills.

  • Contributing to a positive, safe, and nurturing classroom environment.

  • Working closely with teachers and the wider multi-disciplinary team to ensure every student has the opportunity to achieve.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone with a genuine passion for special education who possesses:

  • Prior experience working with children or young people, ideally those with Autism or SEND.

  • A patient, resilient, and proactive approach to supporting complex needs.

  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

  • An understanding of sensory processing and strategies to manage associated difficulties.

If you are committed to helping young people build independence and empowerment, we encourage you to apply.
