About the role

Technical Author £35,000 - £58,000 (Depending on experience) Oxford Permanent Must be a British Citizen and eligible for SC clearance. Client Overview: The client is the world’s leading helicopter production manufacturer, who’s aircraft are used for defence capabilities and training. In addition, they also supply aircraft and their maintenance contracts to a range of local authorities, such as air ambulance and the police. Description/Overall purpose of the Job You will be responsible for the creation and control of task cards and work cards for the Engineers and Technicians to use and follow when carrying out their tasks.  Working with Maintenance Managers, Planning Engineers and hangar floor staff, you will be expected to extract the key task milestones and format into an easy-to-read and purposeful document that aids in the correct and logical execution of tasks. Main responsibilities Translation: Converting complex tasks from the AMM or Service Bulletins (SBs) into clear, sequential, and detailed task cards Version Control: Ensuring the shop floor is always using the latest revision of produced workcards, eliminating the risk of working to superseded data. Usability Testing: Physically validating workcards alongside technicians to ensure instructions are executable in the actual work environment (e.g., tool accessibility, torque sequences). Review and continuous improvement: Work with key users to continually improve the accuracy and validity of the data presented Knowledge and Skills Essential Experience with complex engineering processes Ability to understand, extract and write technical instruction in clear English IT literacy (Microsoft processing / GSuite) Excellent written and verbal communication skills (English) Thorough attention to detail The ability to think clearly using logic and reasoning Proper and effective administration skills The ability to engage with key stakeholders, compiling information and produce clear document sets that encapsulate key themes and ideas Desirable Aviation experience as a maintainer  Part 145 and Part-CAMO knowledge Maintenance planning exposure Knowledge of Envision  Education, Qualifications or Training Essential Engineering qualification (Level 3 equivalent or above) Desirable Part 145 / Part CAMO familiarisation training  Aviation industry training  Benefits: Private Medical Insurance (Bupa) – single cover for employees paid by the company Pension: 6%, employee / 4% basic, can increase Share Incentive Plan and ESOP.
