SEMH Mental Health Support Assistant - CorbyLocation: Corby, NorthamptonshireFull-Time | Long-Term | 12-Week Temp-to-Perm OpportunityTradewind RecruitmentTradewind Recruitment are currently recruiting for an SEMH Mental Health Support Assistant to join a specialist setting in Corby, working with young people who require additional support with their social, emotional and mental health needs.This role is being offered on a 12-week temp-to-perm basis, giving you the opportunity to work within the school, get to know the students and team, and demonstrate your skills before progressing into a permanent position.We are looking for someone who has a genuine interest in mental health and ideally previous experience supporting children or young people who may struggle with emotional regulation, behaviour, anxiety, confidence or engagement with education.This is a rewarding role for someone who can build strong relationships while providing the consistency, patience and clear boundaries that young people within an SEMH environment may need.Your Role Will Include:Supporting students on a 1:1 basis and within small groupsProviding emotional and pastoral support throughout the school dayHelping students understand and regulate their emotionsSupporting young people during periods of heightened emotion or challenging behaviourUsing positive behaviour management and de-escalation strategiesEncouraging students to re-engage positively with learningHelping students develop confidence, resilience and independenceBuilding trusting and professional relationshipsProviding consistent routines and boundariesWorking alongside teachers, pastoral teams and other support professionalsContributing to a positive, safe and supportive learning environmentWhat We're Looking ForWe would particularly like to hear from candidates with experience or knowledge in:Mental health supportSEMH or specialist educationSEN/SENDBehaviour supportTeaching Assistant or Learning Support rolesYouth work or mentoringPastoral supportChildren's residential careSocial carePsychology or counsellingHealthcare and support workYou don't necessarily need to have followed a traditional education career path.
