We’re a technical consultancy, partnering with UK government on mission-critical projects, and we’re looking for an exceptional ICT Systems Engineer ready to make a difference.  You’ll enjoy working with a diverse team on a project like no other – continually refining your IT engineering skills in a dynamic and complex environment.

We looking for a technically capable ICT Systems Engineer that enjoys the challenge of supporting and maintaining, a mainly Windows and VMWare server environment in a highly secure setting.  We require an engineer to wear many ‘hats’ in ensuring a fully functional infrastructure, and can be relied upon to resolve issues quickly and effectively.

We are looking for an engineer that brings a methodical approach to problem solving and are able to act quickly in assessing a situation.  We want you to relish in the provision of a first class service to our customers and be able to communicate at all levels to ensure understanding.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, configure, test and maintain Microsoft and VMWare operating systems, application software and system management tools
  • Troubleshoot and resolve reported helpdesk issues
  • Ensure the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability
  • Contribution to software asset management
  • Compliance with version control procedures in order to deploy system changes. Produce and update documentation that can vary from high-level check lists to in-depth technical build and install instructions
  • Attend and contribute to meetings that approve system changes to operational and development platforms

Essential Experience:

  • Good knowledge and experience of deploying, upgrading and updating operating systems, applications and infrastructure
  • Ability to resolve ICT systems issues in response to triaged help desk tickets, and assist in resolving second and some third line technical issues
  • Good knowledge of patch management and deployment (e.g. WSUS)
  • Proficient knowledge of virtualisation on Windows platforms (especially VMWare(ESXi))
  • Proficient in following ITIL standards and processes

Desired Experience:

  • Knowledge of Windows Operating Systems, including Active Directory, DFS, Internet Protocol, and software deployment via Group Policy
  • Some understanding of Unix/Linux/RedHat

Personal Competencies:

  • Willing to work as part of an integrated multi-technology team
  • Appreciation, acceptance and adherence to the constraints of working on highly classified defence platforms
  • Successful applicants will be required to obtain Developed Vetting security clearance as part of this role
  • The role is based in Wiltshire, but may involve occasional travel both within and outside of UK
