Senior Data Analyst - Journey Insight Squad

Location: Welwyn Garden City
Working Arrangement: Hybrid - 2 days per week on-site
Contract: 6 months

The Opportunity

We're looking for an experienced Senior Data Analyst to join the Journey Insight Squad within a well-established UK retail and mobile telecommunications organisation.

This is a varied role offering the opportunity to work across business and commercial reporting, regulatory reporting, and ad hoc insight requests from stakeholders across the organisation. You'll play a key role in turning complex data into meaningful insights that support strategic and operational decision-making, improve business performance and enhance the customer journey.

We're looking for someone with a strong analytical mindset who is naturally curious, enjoys investigating data and can look beyond the numbers to identify trends, challenge assumptions and uncover opportunities. You'll work closely with stakeholders across different business areas, translating business questions into actionable insights that deliver measurable value.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality reporting, analytics and insights to support business, commercial, customer and operational decision-making.

  • Develop and maintain trusted data products, dashboards and performance reporting aligned with stakeholder requirements.

  • Translate business questions into analytical solutions, providing actionable recommendations that drive measurable outcomes.

  • Partner with tribes, squads and business stakeholders to inform strategy, prioritisation and feature development.

  • Ensure the timely and accurate delivery of regulatory, compliance and governance-related reporting.

  • Champion data quality, consistency and best practice across reporting and analytical processes.

  • Support the organisation's data modernisation agenda, including migration to new platforms, tools and ways of working.

  • Identify and implement opportunities to automate manual processes, improve efficiency and reduce operational risk.

  • Embrace emerging technologies, AI and advanced analytics techniques to enhance insight generation and business value.

  • Share knowledge, support colleagues and contribute to the development of analytical capability across the wider organisation.

Skills & Experience

Essential

  • Strong SQL skills, with the ability to query, manipulate and analyse data to deliver accurate reporting and meaningful insights.

  • Proven experience in a Data Analyst or Senior Data Analyst role, delivering reporting, analytics and actionable business insights.

  • A strong analytical mindset, with excellent problem-solving skills and a natural curiosity to investigate data, identify trends, recognise anomalies and understand the story behind the numbers.

  • Experience delivering business and performance reporting, alongside the ability to respond to ad hoc analytical requests from stakeholders across the business.

  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to data accuracy, quality and consistency, particularly when working with regulatory and compliance-related reporting.

  • The ability to translate complex data into clear, concise and actionable recommendations that support business decisions.

  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the confidence to work collaboratively across different teams and communicate findings to technical and non-technical audiences.

  • The ability to manage competing priorities, adapt to changing requirements and deliver high-quality outputs within agreed deadlines.

Desirable

  • Experience working with Databricks and/or dbt within modern data environments.

  • Experience supporting data migration, platform modernisation or improvements to analytical workflows.

  • Knowledge of reporting automation and opportunities to improve efficiency through technology.

  • An interest in emerging technologies, AI and advanced analytics techniques to enhance insight generation and business value.
