We are currently recruiting for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join a well established and growing engineering and manufacturing business. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with 2 to 3 years’ design engineering experience who is looking to develop their career within a modern and technically advanced environment.

Skills & Experience Required:

• Previous experience within a Mechanical Design Engineer or similar role
• Minimum 2 to 3 years’ experience within an engineering or manufacturing environment
• Experience using SolidWorks or similar 3D CAD software
• Good understanding of mechanical engineering and manufacturing processes
• Ability to read and produce engineering drawings
• Strong communication and problem solving skills
• Good organisational skills and ability to manage workload effectively
• Confident using Microsoft Excel and general IT systems

Advantageous but not essential:

• HNC, Degree or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering or Design Engineering
• Experience within aerospace, defence or other precision engineering sectors
• Knowledge of APQP or NPI processes
• Experience working with CNC machining, fabrication or assembly processes
• Exposure to project management activities
• Understanding of FMEA and design validation processes

Key Responsibilities:

• Producing 3D models, detailed drawings and mechanical designs using CAD software
• Creating and updating bills of materials, process documentation and engineering records
• Supporting prototype builds, testing and validation activities
• Working closely with manufacturing and production teams to support efficient manufacture
• Assisting with design improvements and new product development projects
• Liaising with customers and subcontractors regarding technical requirements
• Supporting technical queries and engineering problem solving activities
• Ensuring designs meet quality, safety and customer requirements
