About the role

Amwins Global Risks

At Amwins Global Risks, we succeed together. We’re not ‘just another London broker’ placing risks and signing contracts. We’re forging relationships that are built to last. With over 700 employees around the world and a global footprint across more than 150 countries, we’ve cemented our place as a top 10 contributor to Lloyd’s.

Insurance is a relationship-based business, and achieving success means hiring the best talent in the industry. When you join us, we will encourage and support your professional and personal development as we invest in you and your learning to help you succeed and grow.

We believe in a flat organisational structure that prizes expertise and relationships equally. We’ve built a workplace where talent, collaboration and inclusivity are valued, and our commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion helps cultivate an open, welcoming workplace where everyone who works with us can be themselves.

As an Established Technician in our Operations Team, you will provide technical processing support to the Technical Team and Broking Divisions through standard and increasingly non-standard processing, in line with compliance, FCA and internal audit guidelines.

Building on the Entry Technician role, you will work with moderate guidance. You will use your broader technical and market knowledge to make routine decisions, resolve issues, check the work of others and support less experienced colleagues.

Responsibilities

  • Complete standard and increasingly non-standard processing with moderate guidance.
  • Own and prioritise workload to meet agreed service levels, timeframes and accuracy standards.
  • Use judgement to identify issues, analyse information and resolve routine problems within own authority.
  • Create, process and check accurate documentation, data and management information using relevant systems.
  • Perform quality control checks on other technicians’ work in accordance with agreed processes.
  • Train and support less experienced colleagues as required.
  • Identify potential errors and omissions risks, recommend appropriate action and escalate promptly.
  • Contribute to ad hoc tasks, projects and improvements to team processes or data quality.
  • Manage competing priorities and adjust plans when requirements change.
  • Build trusted relationships within the team and effective relationships with wider internal stakeholders.
  • Use feedback, data and technology to improve own performance and service delivery.

Knowledge/Skills/Qualifications

  • Sound understanding of insurance principles and the policy lifecycle
  • An understanding of classes of business.
  • Understanding of applicable broking, claims, premium and delegated authority processes.
  • Understanding of London Market processes, insurance distribution channels and the wider insurance industry.
  • Understanding of the link between the role and IBA.
  • Ability to analyse information, make routine decisions and solve problems using policies and procedures.
  • Ability to work with moderate guidance and recognise when escalation is required.
  • Competent use of relevant business systems, Microsoft Excel and Power BI reports.
  • Strong communication, organisation, customer service and stakeholder relationship skills.
  • CII Cert, or equivalent relevant technical knowledge and experience.
