Mechanical Technician (B3T) – Heavy RectificationLocation: RAF Valley, Isle of Anglesey Position: Permanent Salary: £31,574.97 per annum + £3,978 shift allowance Reference: SF72169/ SF65656OverviewMorson Edge is supporting a major defence aviation programme in the recruitment of a Mechanical Technician (B3T) to support Hawk fast jet aircraft rectification and maintenance operations at RAF Valley.This role focuses on aircraft rectification and maintenance activities within a dynamic operational environment, ensuring aircraft are maintained, prepared, and available to meet daily flying and training requirements.The successful candidate will undertake maintenance and diagnostic activities on aircraft and aircraft components, working independently to approved technical data while supporting team objectives and maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and airworthiness.Why RAF Valley?

Key Responsibilities
Undertake maintenance and diagnostic activities on aircraft and aircraft componentsCarry out scheduled maintenance, inspections, repairs, modifications, and fault rectification activitiesSupport component removals, replacements, and functional/system testingAnalyse and diagnose faults on aircraft systems and assembliesApply diagnostic knowledge to support repairs and maintenance improvementsEnsure maintenance activities are completed in line with operational schedulesEscalate technical or maintenance issues where requiredMaintain personal task competencies and approved authorisationsSupport compliance activities including tooling and test equipment controlMaintain personal logbook to demonstrate currency and recency requirementsDemonstrate a proactive and flexible approach within an operational maintenance environment
Requirements
Previous aircraft maintenance experience within an operational aviation environmentStrong understanding of approved technical information and maintenance instructionsAbility to analyse and diagnose faults across aircraft systems and componentsAbility to work independently and as part of a teamStrong communication and interpersonal skillsComputer literate with experience of maintenance documentation systemsCommitment to safety, compliance, and professional standards
Qualifications
Completion of an Engineering Apprenticeship, ideally Aeronautical Engineering or recognised military equivalentCity & Guilds 2675 Aeronautical Engineering & Maintenance or NVQ Level 3 in an Aeronautical disciplineTrade Principles trainingAircraft platform training relevant to the roleCandidates progressing through the B3(T) pathway will also be considered
