Lead BI Developer

£60,000 - £65,000

Leeds (3/2 hybrid)

This is a pivotal role for an experienced BI leader to take end-to-end ownership of custom Power BI solutions for key clients within an established agency. Moving far beyond standard marketing metrics, you will architect complex, cross-functional reporting ecosystems that integrate sales, e-commerce, and operational data for a diverse client portfolio.

You’ll act as the technical authority within an established data team, driving BI strategy and setting best practices for reporting architecture. They are a forward-thinking agency with an excellent culture, looking for a strong decision-maker who can act autonomously, influence key stakeholders, and elevate their overall data offering.

The Role

• Strategic Design & Architecture: Lead the end-to-end design, development, and delivery of interactive, white-labelled Power BI reports tailored to complex client requirements.
• Data Integration & Modeling: Architect scalable relational models by extracting, transforming, and modeling complex datasets from SQL databases, BigQuery, and enterprise marketing platforms.
• Advanced Analytics & Governance: Develop complex DAX measures for advanced KPIs and time-intelligence, while setting robust governance standards including Row-Level Security (RLS) and workspace management.
• Client Consultation & Advisory: Act as the primary technical consult for senior client stakeholders—scoping requirements, translating business goals into technical specs, and presenting actionable insights to non-technical audiences.
• Technical Leadership: Mentor junior team members, refine internal BI workflows, and establish best practices across the reporting lifecycle.

Experience Needed

• Proven Experience: Demonstrable track record in a senior or lead capacity with expertise in BI development, data modeling, and reporting strategy.
• Core Technical Stack: Advanced mastery of Power BI (Power Query, DAX), SQL database management, and enterprise-level data modeling.
• Stakeholder Management: Exceptional communication skills with a proven ability to lead client discussions, scope projects, and present insights at C-suite/senior leadership levels.
• Adaptability & Drive: Strong problem-solving skills with experience managing multiple high-priority client projects in fast-paced environments.

Nice to Haves

• Experience with Python or R for advanced data manipulation and predictive analytics.
• Hands-on experience with cloud data warehousing solutions (Google BigQuery, Azure Synapse, or Snowflake).
• Background in an agency, consultancy, or client-facing environment.
