Vehicle Technician Required

• Well Established Independent Garage
• Based in Chatham, Kent
• Circa £40k Basic Salary
• Hours: Monday to Friday 7.30am to 5pm - No Weekends!

Our client, a prominent Independent Garage located in the heart of Chatham, Kent, is seeking a dedicated and experienced Vehicle Technician to join their dynamic team. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual who takes pride in delivering high-quality workmanship to help maintain the company’s reputation for excellence in vehicle repairs. • Conduct comprehensive vehicle diagnostics to identify issues and recommend the necessary repairs.
• Perform a wide range of repair work including mechanical, electrical, and bodywork.
• Ensure all repairs are completed to a high standard and in a timely manner.
• Maintain accurate records of work done and parts used.
• Adhere to health and safety guidelines and company policies.
• Provide exceptional customer service and communicate effectively with clients regarding their vehicle’s condition.

Skills & Experience Required:

• Proven experience as a Vehicle Technician.
• Relevant qualifications in automotive technology or a related field.
• Strong diagnostic skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and technical aptitude.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Effective communication skills and a customer-focused approach.

Your responsibilities will include: Preparing vehicles and panels ready for painting Sanding, filling, masking and priming Mixing and applying paint accurately Applying primer, basecoat and lacquer Colour matching and blending Carrying out full and SMART paint repairs where required Polishing and rectifying paint defects Ensuring a high-quality finish on every vehicle Working to agreed repair times and productivity targets Maintaining a clean and safe working environment Correctly maintaining and using spray equipment Working closely with Panel Beaters and other members of the Bodyshop team Following all health & safety and quality procedures About You: We are looking for an experienced Vehicle Paint Sprayer with a background in accident repair, bodyshop or vehicle refurbishment. You will ideally have: Previous experience as a Vehicle Paint Sprayer / Paint Technician Strong vehicle preparation and paint application skills Experience with modern paint systems and refinishing techniques Excellent attention to detail The ability to consistently produce a high-quality finish Good colour-matching and blending skills The ability to work efficiently in a busy environment A reliable and professional approach to work The ability to work both independently and as part of a team Relevant qualifications such as NVQ, IMI, City & Guilds or ATA would be advantageous, although proven experience and ability are more important.
