Plant & Operations Manager
Location: Thirsk, North Yorkshire
Are you an operational leader who thrives on solving problems, developing people and keeping a demanding operation moving?
Green Barks Search has been retained by an established, privately owned business to appoint a Plant & Operations Manager within its expanding Concrete Division.
This is a significant leadership opportunity with real influence, responsibility and the chance to shape an operation undergoing continued investment and growth.
With multiple batching plants, a growing specialist vehicle fleet and further expansion planned, we're looking for someone who combines strong technical understanding with the ability to lead people and make things happen.
The Challenge
- Oversee operational performance across multiple production sites.
- Keep plant, machinery and vehicles operating efficiently.
- Manage breakdowns, maintenance costs and equipment reliability.
- Work closely with drivers, planners, engineers and suppliers.
- Maintain transport compliance and operational safety standards.
- Improve processes, challenge costs and support future expansion.
Who Are We Looking For?
Our ideal candidate will understand concrete operations, batching plants and mixer fleets. That would be the perfect starting point.
However, we're equally interested in exceptional leaders from related, plant-intensive operations who can demonstrate transferable experience.
You'll need:
- Transport Manager CPC – essential.
- Strong mechanical understanding and commercial awareness.
- Proven operational leadership and people management experience.
- The confidence to challenge, make decisions and solve problems.
- The ability to balance immediate operational pressures with longer-term improvements.
