About the role

We are currently recruiting for an Accounts Assistant to join a reputable company based in Chelmsford.

The Accounts Assistant will play a pivotal role within the finance team, providing essential support to the day-to-day accounting operations. This role offers hands-on experience in various aspects of accounts processing and administration, including invoice coding, reconciliations, payment processing, and ledger management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Invoice Processing: Accurately code and post invoices in a timely manner.
  • Reconciliations: Reconcile invoices against statements for daily and monthly payment runs and perform bank reconciliations.
  • Payment Processing: Process payments for vehicle purchases and finance settlements.
  • Daily Financial Operations: Manage direct debit postings, receipts, and daily payment processing.
  • Cashback & Refunds: Assist with the processing of cashback payments and refunds.
  • Query Resolution: Investigate and resolve accounting queries, supporting management teams.
  • Discrepancy Reporting: Identify and report discrepancies to the relevant departmental managers.
  • Administrative Support: Carry out general administrative duties to maintain smooth finance operations.
  • Additional Responsibilities
  • Purchase Ledger Management: Maintain the purchase ledger, ensuring all invoices and payments are properly authorised.

Person Specification

  • Part or fully AAT qualified (or equivalent accounting qualification).
  • Experience with Sage and Keyloop is preferred but not essential.
  • Previous experience in a similar accounts role is desirable.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy in all financial processes.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Proficient in IT systems, particularly Microsoft Excel.
  • A collaborative team player with strong communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and proactively improve existing processes.
