About the role

Are you an experienced and confident Teaching Assistant looking for a full-time role supporting a child in Year 2 with challenging behavioural needs?

A welcoming Primary School in Chipping Campden is seeking a strong and committed Teaching Assistant to join their team after the October half-term break. This is a full-time role supporting a Year 2 pupil on a 1:1 basis until the end of the academic year. You will provide dedicated classroom support, helping the child to engage with learning, manage their behaviour, and access the school curriculum in a positive and supportive environment.

This role is ideal for an experienced Teaching Assistant who is confident working with children with challenging behavioural needs and can provide patient, consistent, and structured support. The successful candidate will need to build a positive relationship with the child, establish clear boundaries, and use effective behaviour management strategies to encourage positive choices and engagement with learning.

As a Teaching Assistant, you will be expected to take a proactive approach to supporting the child, helping them to regulate their emotions, develop positive behaviours, and make progress with their learning. You will work closely with the class teacher and wider school team to provide consistent, nurturing, and appropriate support throughout the school day.

As a Teaching Assistant, your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing dedicated 1:1 support to a Year 2 pupil with challenging behavioural needs.

  • Supporting the child to access classroom learning and participate in lessons and activities.

  • Implementing appropriate behaviour management strategies to encourage positive behaviour and engagement.

  • Helping the child to develop emotional regulation, resilience, and positive social interactions.

  • Using initiative to adapt your approach in response to the child's individual needs and behaviour.

  • Encouraging the child's confidence, independence, communication, and engagement with learning.

  • Supporting the child to follow classroom routines, expectations, and boundaries.

  • Building a positive and trusting relationship with the child while maintaining clear and consistent expectations.

  • Working closely with the class teacher and wider school team to provide consistent support.

  • Promoting a safe, calm, and inclusive learning environment for the child and their peers.

To be successful in this Teaching Assistant role, you will need:

  • Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant within a Primary School setting.

  • Experience supporting children with challenging behavioural needs.

  • Confidence providing 1:1 support to pupils who require additional behavioural support.

  • A strong understanding of behaviour management strategies and the importance of consistency.

  • The ability to remain calm, patient, and resilient in challenging situations.

  • A firm but fair approach, with the ability to establish clear boundaries and build positive relationships.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • The ability to adapt your approach to meet the child's individual needs.

  • The confidence to work closely with the class teacher and wider school team to support the child's progress.

  • A proactive, flexible, and professional approach to supporting children's learning and development.

Working as a Teaching Assistant for Flourish Education also offers you excellent benefits, including:

  • Competitive daily pay rates from £92.60 to £100 per day, based on previous experience.

  • Holiday Pay – PAYE candidates accrue 12.07% of their day rate.
