We are recruiting for an experienced Mechanical Project Manager to join an established M&E contractor delivering mechanical and electrical building services projects across the North West.

This is an excellent opportunity to take responsibility for the mechanical delivery of a £5m residential development in Newcastle-under-Lyme, where our client is delivering the M&E package.

Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will oversee the mechanical aspects of the project from pre-construction through to completion, taking responsibility for programme delivery, commercial performance, P&L, subcontractor management and client relationships.

We are looking for a technically strong, commercially aware Mechanical Project Manager who can take ownership of project delivery and ensure works are completed safely, on time and within budget.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage mechanical building services installations from pre-construction through to practical completion and handover.

  • Take responsibility for project budgets, P&L performance, cost control and commercial delivery.

  • Develop and manage project programmes, ensuring key milestones are achieved.

  • Coordinate mechanical subcontractors, directly employed labour, suppliers and site teams.

  • Oversee procurement of materials, plant and subcontractor packages.

  • Monitor project costs, variations, risks and resource requirements.

  • Work closely with clients, consultants, designers and the wider M&E project team.

  • Review mechanical drawings, specifications and technical documentation.

  • Ensure installations meet required quality standards, Building Regulations and project specifications.

  • Maintain high standards of health and safety, including RAMS and site inspections.

  • Manage progress reporting, project meetings and stakeholder communication.

  • Oversee testing, commissioning, snagging and successful project handover.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Project Manager with a strong background in mechanical building services and a proven track record of delivering construction projects.

Essential Experience & Qualifications

  • Proven experience managing mechanical building services projects within the construction industry.

  • Strong technical understanding of mechanical installations and associated building services systems.

  • Experience delivering projects from pre-construction through to completion.

  • Strong commercial awareness, including project budgets, cost control, variations and P&L responsibility.

  • Experience managing subcontractors, direct labour and supply chain partners.

  • Excellent understanding of construction programmes, procurement and project delivery.

  • NVQ Level 3, HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Building Services or a related discipline.

  • SMSTS qualification.

  • CSCS Management Card.

  • Strong communication, organisational and leadership skills.

  • Full UK driving licence.

Experience delivering residential developments or similarly sized M&E projects would be particularly advantageous.

What's on Offer?

  • Salary of £55,000 - £65,000 per annum

  • Company car

  • Permanent opportunity with an established M&E contractor
