Due to continued growth, they are seeking a Pre-Construction Engineer (Electrical) to support the development of energy and power infrastructure schemes from initial enquiry through to project handover.

This hybrid role offers the opportunity to work closely with engineering, commercial and operational teams, ensuring projects are technically compliant, commercially robust and ready for successful delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify technical risks, scope gaps, assumptions, exclusions and compliance requirements.
  • Develop electrical scopes of work covering HV and LV systems, protection, control, earthing, containment and cabling.
  • Produce compliance and deviation schedules and manage technical queries throughout the tender process.
  • Complete quantity take-offs and support project cost estimates.
  • Work closely with commercial teams to develop accurate and competitive tender submissions.
  • Prepare subcontract packages, including testing, commissioning and quality requirements.
  • Define project interfaces, responsibilities and inspection requirements.
  • Review supplier and subcontractor quotations and support technical evaluations.
  • Support project handovers by communicating key assumptions, risks and technical requirements to delivery teams.
  • Contribute to value engineering and alternative technical solutions where appropriate.

Requirements

  • Degree, HNC, HND or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience within power, utilities, renewable energy or electrical infrastructure projects.
  • Background working for an engineering contractor, utility contractor, infrastructure provider or renewable energy organisation.
  • Strong understanding of HV and LV systems, electrical drawings and technical specifications.
  • Experience supporting bids, tenders, proposals or pre-construction activities.
  • Knowledge of BS 7671 and UK electrical industry standards.
  • Familiarity with NEC contracts.
  • Strong commercial awareness and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience with estimating or quantity take-off software would be advantageous.
  • Chartered status or progress towards professional registration would be beneficial.

What's on Offer

  • Hybrid working arrangement with occasional UK travel.
  • Opportunity to work on major power and renewable energy infrastructure projects.
  • Involvement in projects from bid stage through to construction.
  • A varied role combining technical, commercial and operational responsibilities.
  • Exposure to senior stakeholders and key business decisions.
  • Excellent long-term career development opportunities.
  • Competitive salary and benefits package.

If you have experience in electrical pre-construction, tender engineering, estimating or bid support within the power, utilities or renewable energy sectors, we would like to hear from you.
