About the role

We are rolling out a major educational support campaign across North Tyneside! We are currently looking for passionate, grounded, and engaging Academic Tutors to work 1:1 with children and young people across Wallsend, North Shields, Killingworth, Tynemouth, and surrounding Tyneside communities.

Many of these young people are learning outside of mainstream school environments, whether due to medical needs, anxiety, or additional learning requirements. They need tutors who can build rapport quickly, boost confidence, and make learning accessible and engaging.

What We Offer:
  • Flexible Hours: Choose assignments that fit around your lifestyle or existing commitments (daytime hours during term time).

  • Competitive Pay: £25.00 - £35.00 per hour (based on experience/qualifications) - PPA time and mileage negotiated on a case by case basis too

  • Local Impact: Deliver sessions in young people's homes, local Customer centers, or community libraries in North Tyneside.

  • Dedicated Local Support: Full guidance from our team with structured session plans and pupil background information.

What We Are Looking For:
  • Experience tutoring or teaching Primary, Key Stage 3, or GCSE core subjects (English, Maths, or Science, Humananties, Sports and DT).

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS) is preferred, but not essential if you have solid academic tutoring, HLTA, or degree-level subject experience.

  • A warm, patient approach suited to young people who may lack educational confidence.

  • An enhanced DBS check on the Update Service (or willing to apply for one).

  • A full UK driving license and access to a vehicle (ideal for travelling between local community hubs).

Join our North Tyneside team today and help re-engage local young people in learning!
