We are currently recruiting for a 1:1 Teaching Assistant in Penistone, South Yorkshire, to provide individualised support to a pupil within a school setting.

This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic education professional who is passionate about helping children achieve their full potential. The successful candidate will work closely with the class teacher and wider school team to support the pupil’s learning, development, confidence and engagement in the classroom.

Whether you are an experienced Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant or have previous experience providing 1:1 pupil support, we would love to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide dedicated 1:1 support to a pupil throughout the school day.
• Support the pupil with classroom activities, learning tasks and lesson engagement.
• Adapt learning resources and activities to meet individual needs.
• Encourage independence, confidence and positive social interaction.
• Promote positive behaviour and help maintain a calm, structured learning environment.
• Work collaboratively with the class teacher and other support staff.
• Monitor the pupil’s progress and communicate any concerns to the relevant staff.
• Help create a safe, inclusive and nurturing classroom environment.

The Ideal Candidate

• Has experience working with children in a school or educational setting.
• Is patient, empathetic and passionate about supporting children’s learning.
• Has strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Can provide consistent, tailored support to meet an individual pupil’s needs.
• Is proactive, adaptable and confident working as part of a team.
• Has a genuine commitment to inclusion and pupil development.

Experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) would be advantageous.
