About the role

We’re recruiting on behalf of an established business operating within the built environment, seeking a Sales Estimator to join its team. This varied role combines technical estimating, supplier liaison, customer relationship management and business development.

It’s an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working across the commercial process, from reviewing project requirements and preparing costings through to developing customer relationships and supporting successful project delivery.

Skills & Experience Required:

  • Experience in estimating, technical sales, commercial support or a related B2B environment.
  • The ability to interpret technical drawings and project documentation, or a willingness to develop this skill.
  • Strong numerical skills and attention to detail.
  • Good communication and relationship-building skills, with confidence dealing with customers and suppliers.
  • A proactive approach to identifying opportunities and supporting business development.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple enquiries and deadlines.
  • Confidence using business software and a willingness to learn new systems and processes.
  • A professional approach to customer service and a desire to develop your commercial expertise.

Previous estimating experience is advantageous but not essential. We’re also keen to hear from candidates who have a genuine interest in building a long-term career within the industry and are eager to learn. If you have transferable skills, a positive attitude and the motivation to develop your technical and commercial knowledge, full consideration will be given to your application.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and manage quotations, ensuring costs, specifications and commercial requirements are accurately assessed.
  • Review technical documentation and project drawings to establish requirements and develop appropriate cost proposals.
  • Obtain and evaluate pricing information from established and prospective suppliers.
  • Develop an understanding of the company’s technical offering, production processes and associated cost considerations.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to customer enquiries, providing clear information and following up on opportunities.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with existing customers, prospective clients and supply chain partners.
  • Identify potential projects and new commercial opportunities through research, networking and proactive business development.
  • Support purchasing and procurement activities, helping to obtain competitive pricing and maintain effective supplier relationships.
