About the role

Inspire a Lifetime of Adventure at Lerryn CofE School

Nestled at the top of the hill overlooking Lerryn’s picturesque river and famous stepping stones, Lerryn CofE School is a vibrant village school with a big heart. Across our two small, mixed-age classes, we provide a uniquely personalised education where outdoor learning, community spirit, and high aspirations thrive.

We are seeking two enthusiastic, adaptable, and caring Higher Level Teaching Assistants (HLTAs) to join our close-knit, talented team.

The Role

As an HLTA at Lerryn, you will play a central role in delivering engaging learning experiences. You will cover PPA time by confidently leading full classes independently, as well as working alongside teachers to support small groups and individual pupils with diverse needs.

From facilitating classroom learning and delivering tailored interventions to making full use of our enviable outdoor learning environment and Trust adventure offers (including canoeing, mountain biking, and residentials), your work will directly shape our children’s confidence and progress.

There are 2 roles available, each working 4 days per week, hours of work are 8.35am to 3.20pm with a 30 minute unpaid break.

Please note: These roles are essential and as such we will be interviewing as suitable applicants apply. We reserve the right to close this role early should vacancies be filled before the closing date

What You’ll Bring
  • Experience supporting children’s learning in an educational setting.

  • Confidence in leading whole classes independently across different age groups.

  • A proactive, patient, and creative approach to learning and behaviour management.

  • A strong commitment to inclusion and supporting pupils with SEN.

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build warm, supportive relationships with children, parents, and colleagues.

Why Join Us?

Our 'Bring It!' vision encourages children and staff alike to bring courage, creativity, and friendship to school every day. As part of St Barnabas Multi Academy Trust, we offer:

  • Work-Life Balance: Term-time hours supporting family and personal commitments.

  • Benefits Package: Generous Local Authority Pension Scheme, Cycle to Work scheme, Employee Assistance Programme, and corporate gym discounts.

  • Professional Growth: Continuous training, development, and career growth across the Trust.

  • Generous Leave & Perks: Enhanced holiday entitlement and free eyecare vouchers.

St Barnabas Multi Academy Trust is committed to promoting equality of opportunity for all staff and job applicants. We aim to create a supportive and inclusive working environment in which all individuals can make best use of their skills, free from discrimination or harassment, and in which all decisions are based on merit.

St Barnabas Multi Academy Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful candidate will be subject to an enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references. Please be aware that all shortlisted candidates will have an online search conducted as part of the Trust’s due diligence checks in line with KCSIE. In all of our trust schools any employee may be required to be moved into a role which meets disqualification under the Childcare Act requirements.
