Accounts Assistant

We are working with a well established business in Bishop Auckland to recruit an Accounts Assistant to join their small finance team.

This is a great opportunity for someone with accounts or finance experience who is looking to join a busy team in a varied role. You will be involved in a range of day to day finance activities, helping to ensure transactions are processed accurately and deadlines are met.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Processing supplier invoices, credit notes and purchase orders.
• Maintaining accurate supplier records and assisting with payment runs.
• Investigating invoice discrepancies and resolving supplier queries.
• Reconciling supplier statements and supporting routine bank reconciliations.
• Assisting with the recording and allocation of customer payments.
• Supporting payroll administration, including checking timesheets and employee hours.
• Liaising with internal departments and external contacts to resolve queries and keep processes running smoothly.
• Providing general support to the finance team as required.

We are looking for someone who is organised, reliable and comfortable working with figures, with a keen eye for detail and a positive approach to their work.

Ideally, you will have:

• Experience in an accounts or finance role.
• Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
• Strong organisational and communication skills.
• The ability to manage workloads and meet deadlines.
• A proactive, team focused attitude and the ability to work well with others.
• Experience using accounting software or an ERP system would be beneficial.

• Starting salary of £27,000 to £29,000 per annum, depending on experience.
• 26 days’ annual leave, plus bank holidays.
• Private medical scheme following successful completion of a six month probationary period.
• A 37.5 hour working week, with an early finish every Friday.
