Senior Structural Engineer

6-12 month contract, fully remote working

Summary:

We are seeking a Senior Structural Engineer with extensive experience in reinforced concrete (RC) design to join a dynamic engineering team on a fully remote basis for a 6 to 12-month contract. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in structural engineering, with proven expertise in the design, analysis, and verification of RC structures. Chartered status is preferred, reflecting a high level of professional competence and commitment to engineering standards. This role involves leading technical design activities, providing engineering solutions, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure compliance with relevant codes and project requirements. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent communication skills, the ability to work independently, and a proactive approach to mentoring junior engineers and managing design risks.

Skills:

• Extensive experience in reinforced concrete (RC) structural design
• Chartered Engineer status preferred (e.g., MIStructE, MICE)
• Strong knowledge of structural engineering principles and design codes
• Ability to lead and manage technical design packages
• Experience in producing and reviewing structural calculations and drawings
• Proficient in structural analysis and design software
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
• Ability to work independently and remotely with minimal supervision
• Experience mentoring and supporting junior engineers
• Strong understanding of design risk management and quality assurance

Software/Tools:

• Structural analysis and design software (e.g., STAAD.Pro, Robot Structural Analysis, ETABS)
• CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit)
• Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)

Certifications & Standards:

• Chartered Engineer status preferred (MIStructE, MICE or equivalent)
• Knowledge of relevant British Standards and Eurocodes for structural design
• Understanding of Construction (Design and Management) Regulations (CDM)
• CSCS card (desirable)
