About the role
Multi-Trade Operative (Non-Electrical)
Job descriptionFull Time / 37 Hours Per Week / Permanent
Join us and we’ll put your trade skills into practice to complete kitchen & bathroom installations.
You’ll have a relevant trade qualification to NVQ Level 2 along with experience of other trade tasks involved in doing kitchen and bathroom installs. These include carpentry, plumbing, brickwork repairs, plastering, painting, and decorating. Ideally, you’ll have experience of installing Altro flooring, but training can be provided.
You’ll provide a high-quality value for money service. Working in line with building industry regulations and health and safety standards, you’ll create a safe home for our residents. Respectful, honest, and flexible, you’ll take pride the work you do. With the satisfaction of helping to improve thousands of lives across Leicester, you can look forward to a work environment that encourages a healthy work/life balance.
Hours of work are 8.00am to 4pm Monday to Thursday and 8.00am to 3:30pm on Fridays. You’ll travel to homes across the city as the work requires. You’ll be provided with power tools, equipment and access to a van which can be used to travel to and from work. You'll need to hold a full valid driving licence.
What we can offer you
There are so many benefits to working for the Council which allow me to have a good work-life balance such as
- 5 weeks paid holiday entitlement per year – this will increase by another week after 5 years service;
- 8 Bank Holidays off per year;
- Staff discounts for shopping and gym memberships;
- Ability to do compressed hours working to allow for a day off every week in agreement with management; and
- Flexible working to allow me to collect my child from school when needed or manage other caring duties.
The council are supportive of upskilling and providing development opportunities. They pay for refresher training for mandatory qualifications with time-off to do this. Most importantly I have guaranteed work so I always know what I am getting paid and job security.
