Experienced KS2 Teacher Needed for a Year 5 Class in Bexley

Forward Teaching is recruiting a confident and experienced Year 5 Class Teacher for a primary school in Bexley, with an immediate start available.

The school has described the Year 5 class positively. There are a small number of pupils with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), with Teaching Assistant support already in place.

This opportunity would suit a teacher who has strong KS2 experience, excellent classroom management skills and the confidence to establish consistent routines and expectations.

The Role

As the Year 5 Class Teacher, you’ll be responsible for:

• Planning and delivering engaging lessons in line with the KS2 curriculum.

• Taking responsibility for the day-to-day teaching and progress of the class.

• Maintaining high expectations for behaviour, learning and achievement.

• Creating a positive, structured classroom environment.

• Adapting teaching to meet a range of learning needs.

• Working effectively with the Teaching Assistants supporting pupils with EHCPs.

• Assessing progress and providing feedback.

• Working collaboratively with colleagues and school leadership.

The Ideal Candidate

We’re looking for a teacher who has:

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).

• Previous KS2 teaching experience, ideally in Years 5 or 6.

• Excellent behaviour management skills.

• Strong curriculum knowledge and classroom organisation.

• Experience adapting teaching for pupils with SEND and EHCPs.

• The ability to work effectively alongside support staff.

• Confidence taking responsibility for a class with minimal settling-in time.

• A professional, reliable and positive approach.

Previous Year 5 experience would be particularly beneficial, although strong teachers from other KS2 year groups are encouraged to apply.
