About the role
About the Role
Are you a confident, reliable individual looking for flexible work in local secondary schools? We are currently recruiting Cover Supervisors to support partner schools across the Brentwood area.
This role is ideal for recent graduates considering a career in teaching, sports coaches, youth workers, or experienced classroom support staff who want control over their working week without taking work home.
Because calls for daily cover often come in early, morning availability (from 7:00 AM - 7:30 AM) is required.
Key Responsibilities
Supervise secondary school classes (Key Stage 3 & Key Stage 4) in the absence of the regular class teacher.
Deliver pre-planned lesson materials left by subject teachers.
Manage classroom behaviour effectively in line with the school's behaviour policies.
Keep students engaged, on task, and working safely.
Collect completed work at the end of the lesson and leave brief feedback for the returning teacher.
What We Are Looking For
Availability: Available on morning call-outs between 7:00 AM and 8:30 AM.
Experience: Previous experience working with young people (aged 11-16) in a school, youth group, sports coaching, or tutoring capacity is desirable.
Skills: Strong communication, presence, and natural authority to manage group dynamics.
Qualities: Adaptable, punctual, proactive, and resilient.
Compliance: Must hold (or be willing to apply for) an Enhanced DBS check on the Update Service.
What We Offer
Competitive Pay: £100 - £110 per day paid via PAYE (no umbrella company deductions or hidden admin fees).
Flexibility: Work as many or as few days as suits your schedule.
Local Work: Short travel distances across schools in Brentwood and nearby Essex hubs.
Career Progression: Invaluable paid classroom experience for anyone aspiring to complete a PGCE or SCITT program.
How to Apply:
If you are a confident and experienced individual ready to take on this challenging and rewarding role, we want to hear from you, apply now and if you have the relevant experience one of the team will be in touch.
