Randstad Education is currently recruiting a permanent Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join an encouraging, forward-thinking primary school community in Cambridge. Working full-time on a permanent basis, this position offers long-term stability and a clear path for professional development within a school that truly values the leadership of its support staff.
As a permanent HLTA, you will become a central figure across the school-taking on regular whole-class teaching cover for teacher PPA time, leading targeted intervention programs, and working alongside senior leadership to raise academic attainment.
Key Responsibilities
Whole-Class Cover & PPA Delivery: As a permanent HLTA, you will independently lead and deliver pre-planned lessons across various year groups, ensuring seamless continuity of learning during teacher PPA, management, or absence cover.
Targeted Learning Interventions: Plan and deliver structured 1-to-1 and small-group catch-up sessions in core subjects (English, Maths, and Phonics) to boost student progress and confidence over the long term.
Classroom Leadership & Behaviour: Maintain high expectations and positive learning environments across different key stages using effective classroom management strategies.
Support Inclusion & SEN: Collaborate with class teachers and the SENCO to adapt learning resources, ensuring all tasks are accessible to pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
Long-Term School Contribution: Provide detailed feedback on pupil progress, participate in staff development days, and contribute to wider school initiatives and extra-curricular clubs.
Candidate Profile
We are searching for an organized, ambitious HLTA with strong classroom presence and excellent communication skills.
Holds HLTA status (or an equivalent Level 4 qualification / extensive primary class cover experience).
Proven track record of leading whole classes and delivering targeted interventions within a UK primary school setting.
Strong knowledge of the UK National Curriculum, primary phonics, and numeracy strategies.
Confident, patient, and adaptable approach with excellent classroom management skills.
Holds an Enhanced DBS check on the Update Service (or readiness to process one through Randstad).
Mandatory UK Right to Work (no visa sponsorship available).
