Assistant Branch Manager - Builders Merchant The Role * Supporting the Branch Manager to run a busy builders merchant branch, and deputising in their absence * Taking day to day ownership of branch performance, including sales, margin, stock and customer service standards * Building and developing relationships with trade customers, contractors, housebuilders and local authorities * Growing existing trade accounts while proactively identifying and winning new business for the branch * Getting out to visit customers and sites to develop opportunities, from first contact through to completed orders * Leading, motivating and developing the branch team across the trade counter, yard and sales desk * Keeping the branch running safely and efficiently, with a firm grip on stock, deliveries and health and safety * Working alongside an experienced management team who will provide full training, guidance and ongoing development The Company Our client is a well established, market leading builders merchant with a strong reputation across the construction industry and a loyal trade customer base. The Candidate * Previous face to face sales experience, whether field sales, external sales or trade counter based * Experience of account management and/or business development * Confident building relationships and engaging with customers at all levels * Commercially minded with a proactive approach to spotting and winning opportunities * Excellent attitude, a genuine team player, motivated and driven * Strong communication, organisation and relationship building skills * Comfortable taking responsibility and working on your own initiative * Industry experience is not essential, as full training will be provided The Package * Up to £45,000 basic salary * £12,000 to £20,000 OTE * Hybrid company car * Private healthcare * Retail discounts * 25 days holiday plus bank holidays * Full training and ongoing development * Clear long term career progression Ref: CPJ1810
