Are you an experienced Electrical & Gas Designer looking for your next opportunity?
Technical Resources is partnering with a leading provider of energy and utilities infrastructure solutions to hire an Electrical & Gas Designer. In this role, you will be responsible for producing technical designs for electrical and gas distribution systems, ensuring projects are delivered safely, compliantly, and to the highest engineering standards.

Key Responsibilities
Technical Design: Produce detailed electrical and gas network designs, including single-line diagrams, schematics, and layout drawings using CAD or network design tools.
Feasibility & Concept Design: Develop and review design proposals at feasibility, outline, and detailed stages, ensuring technical and commercial viability.
Stakeholder Collaboration: Liaise with project managers, engineers, clients, and DNOs/GDNs to ensure design intent is clearly communicated and delivered on site.
Technical Oversight & Reporting: Prepare design packs, material schedules, and as-built documentation, supporting project handover and close-out.
Quality & Compliance: Ensure all designs adhere to relevant industry standards including BS 7671, IGE/UP/2, GS(M)R, and applicable Health & Safety regulations.
Experience & Qualifications Required
Essential:
Experience: Minimum 3 years as an Electrical & Gas Designer within the energy, utilities, or M&E industry.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in CAD-based design tools (e.g. AutoCAD, MicroStation, or sector-specific network design software); working knowledge of both LV/HV electrical systems and gas distribution networks.
Project/Operational Scope: Demonstrable track record of delivering designs across a range of project types, from small diversions and connections through to larger infrastructure schemes.
Soft Skills: Strong attention to detail, ability to manage multiple designs concurrently, and clear written and verbal communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Mobility & Eligibility: Right to Work in the UK; ability to work across multiple office locations (Stourbridge, Bury, and London) as required.
Desirable:
Certifications: HNC/HND or degree in Electrical Engineering, Gas Engineering, or a related discipline; membership or working towards membership of a relevant professional body (e.g. IET, IGasE).
Sector Background: Prior experience working with DNOs, GDNs, or within the utilities contracting sector on connections, diversions, or reinforcement schemes.
