The Opportunity

We are currently seeking an Acute Physician Consultant to support a General Medicine service in the South West of England.

This locum opportunity offers a 12-week contract from the start date, providing an excellent opportunity to join an established acute medical team within a busy hospital environment. The role is ideally suited to experienced consultants with a background in General Internal Medicine and Acute Medicine, who are confident managing acutely unwell patients and supporting the delivery of high-quality inpatient care.

You will work alongside multidisciplinary teams, contributing to the assessment, diagnosis, and management of patients presenting with a wide range of acute medical conditions.

What You'll Be Doing

• Deliver high-quality consultant-led care within an acute medical setting
• Assess, diagnose, and manage patients presenting with acute medical conditions
• Provide senior clinical decision-making and support patient flow through the acute pathway
• Work collaboratively with junior doctors, nursing teams, and the wider multidisciplinary team
• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in line with NHS standards
• Support safe, effective, and efficient service delivery
• Escalate clinical concerns appropriately and contribute to patient safety initiatives

What We're Looking For

• Active GMC registration
• Consultant-level experience in General Internal Medicine and/or Acute Medicine
• Relevant recent NHS experience
• Strong communication, leadership, and clinical decision-making skills
• Ability to work independently and within established multidisciplinary teams
• Valid Right to Work in the UK (please note we do not offer visa sponsorship)
