About the role
Job Role: Tutor
Hours: Variable hours, each placement is 10 – 15 Hours a week.
Operam Education Group are working in partnership with East Riding of Yorkshire authority to provide 1:1 tuition to pupils who are currently not able to access mainstream education, due to special needs, exclusion or other issues.
Tuition placements are typically between 10 – 15 hours per week, typically 2 to 3 hours per day Monday to Friday of face to face tuition time, though other schedules can be arranged. They are normally for at least 3 months and many run for considerably longer. You are not limited in the number of tutees you support, though tuition is typically done during the school day, so between the hours of 8.30 – 4.
The roles available will be specific pupils support for one identified pupil, who could age from 7 – 18 and will typically be to tutor English and Maths.

General Purpose of the role:
To provide tuition on a one to one basis in a face to face capacity as directed and according to computer led instruction and material. To record data, participate in evaluations and compose reports as directed on pupil progress and outcomes.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversee the overall tutoring project for assigned pupils
- Collect required data for project
- Implement methods for data quality assurance
- Write reports on implementation as needed with relevant data and information
- Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve pupil objectives
- Adhere to all policies and protocols of the Operam Education Group
- Act in a professional manner and with pupils and family/carers
- Perform other duties, as assigned to fulfill the role successfully
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree or teaching qualification (desirable)
- Teaching/tutoring /mentoring experience (desirable)
- Experience working with children (essential)
- GCSEs in English Language, Maths’ and a Science at Grade C or above (essential)
- Driving license (desirable)
Technology:
- Ability to use Microsoft Word in the creation, editing, and review of documents including formatting text and tables
- Ability to use Microsoft Excel in the creation and use of spreadsheets including sorting and filtering data, using basic formulas, and creating graphs
- Ability to use Microsoft Outlook for sending and receiving email, maintaining a work calendar, and scheduling appointments
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Organise data and accurately understand and report data
- Engage pupils in creative and versatile teaching style
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships
- Interact with pupils
- Manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously
- Prioritise, organise, and delegate assignments
- Make administrative/procedural decisions and judgments
- Analyse and solve problems
Working Conditions:
Work is normally performed in an agreed external location or at the pupils’ home under the supervision of the pupils’ responsible adult.
