We’re recruiting an enthusiastic Commis Chef to join a well-established hospitality venue in Glasgow on a permanent basis. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience, learn from talented chefs and build a strong foundation for a successful culinary career.

Whether you’re currently working as a Junior Chef, Assistant Chef or Trainee Chef, you’ll become part of a supportive kitchen team where you can develop your confidence, expand your knowledge and play an important role in delivering memorable dining experiences.

What you will get in your new role

  • Competitive salary of £32,130 per annum.
  • Permanent contract within a respected hospitality environment.
  • Opportunity to learn and master essential food safety techniques from experienced culinary professionals.
  • A collaborative, welcoming work culture built on pride, teamwork, and mutual respect.

Responsibilities in your new role as Commis Chef

You’ll work closely with the senior kitchen team to ensure smooth daily operations, supporting food preparation, maintaining high standards and keeping the kitchen organised and ready for service. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting senior chefs with preparing fresh ingredients, chopping vegetables, portioning food and completing mise en place.
  • Keeping workstations clean, organised and fully stocked to ensure efficient service.
  • Receiving deliveries, check and store ingredients correctly, rotate stock and help minimise food waste.
  • Carrying out basic cooking tasks and prepare dishes under the guidance of senior chefs.
  • Maintaining excellent cleanliness and hygiene standards, following safe food handling procedures to prevent cross-contamination.
  • Ensuring compliance with food safety regulations, HACCP, COSHH and relevant distillery-specific procedures.
  • Supporting the wider kitchen team while developing your culinary skills and knowledge of professional kitchen operations.

Your personality, experience and qualifications

You’ll have previous experience in a similar hospitality kitchen position, with a good understanding of basic cooking techniques, food hygiene, kitchen equipment and safe food handling practices.

You’ll bring strong English communication skills, excellent attention to detail and a positive, team-focused attitude. We’re looking for someone who is reliable, organised and flexible, takes pride in their work and is eager to develop their culinary skills.
